Super Smash Bros. Sells 120 Copies a Minute!

Wii Game Sells at a Rate of More than 120 per Minute

REDMOND, Wash., March 17, 2008 – After just one week on store shelves, Super Smash Bros.® Brawl for Wii has become the fastest-selling video game in Nintendo of America’s history. Since its launch on March 9, the feature-packed fighting action game has sold more than 1.4 million units in the United States, including more than 874,000 on March 9 alone. It has sold at a rate of more than 120 units per minute between launch and March 16.

“Super Smash Bros. Brawl has made the leap from video game to cultural phenomenon,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Game reviewers and the public alike praise its fun game play and extensive, inventive content.”

IGN’s Smash Bros. Brawl Extravaganza

IGN has uploaded a plethora of direct feed footage of Super Smash Bros. Brawl along with their “Smashcast“.

With Matt out sick from too much Pikachu thunder attacking, Bozon enlists the help of fellow hardcore Smash fanatic Fran “Berries and Cream” Mirabella, Peer, and Eduardo for a full, hour-long Smash Bros. podcast. We talk about the new characters, level editor, changes from Melee to Brawl, and the disappointing Subspace Emissary mode. We’ll tell you which newcomers to use, what return fighters have gotten a boost, and which items we use, but try not to abuse.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Delay?

The folks over at Go Nintendo have been tipped off in recent times to a possible delay for SSBB. Apparently some people who have pre-ordered the game have been getting notices that the game will not be shipping until 3/9/2008.

Nintendo has yet to speak on the issue. Go Nintendo is expecting that the delay is in fact going to occur.
